Entertainment

In 1998, a group of four young Canadians from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, decided to form a serious rock band. To do so, brothers Colin MacDonald (lead vocals/rhythm guitar) and John-Angus MacDonald (lead guitar/background vocals), cousin Sean Dalton (drums), and longtime friend Jack Syperek (bass) moved into a house in Niagara Falls, Canada, in order to be closer to bigger cities and to have a practice space in their own home. In the early summer of 2002 the band entered Rock Search, a high profile contest that is held annually by CHTZ-FM, a St. Catharines (Southern Ontario) rock radio station. Winning the contest would prove to be their big break as they soon landed a recording contract with Sony BMG Canada. Since 2003 the band have racked up eleven Top 10 rock radio singles in Canada, including two chart-toppers, have sold over 200,000 albums and have shared the stage with The Rolling Stones, Robert Plant, Guns'n'Roses, KISS, Nickelback, Cheap Trick, The Tragically Hip and Kid Rock among many others.

Inward Eye

Thanks to a magical combination of genetics and the power of Mick Jagger, the Erickson brothers lived and breathed more rock & roll before they hit ten years old than most people experience in a lifetime. When they were barely old enough to read, the trio would soon become Inward Eye — Dave (vocals/bass), Kyle (guitar/vocals), and Anders (drums). The musical chemistry and genetic pre-disposition to like the same music makes our band special. As a 3-piece, there’s nowhere to hide so we perfected our technique and learned to fill out our sound,” For this trio, brotherhood always comes first. "We are a true band. There is not one decision that is made by one person, it has to go through all of us, right down to notes Dave sings or a drum beat Anders plays.

Sons of York

Sons of York are a trio of brothers that look like The Outsiders and sound like Franz Ferdinand meets Bruce Springsteen. Luke, Jake and Cody Kennerd grew up in the 90's, but their sound is a compelling throw-back to the '60s. They write songs for the coming of age struggle, the girls they have known and the places they've been. Their stories wander down suburban streets, across worn-out fields and through crowded bars. Gritty vocals, jangly riffs and tight harmonies channel a mix of influences old and new including the Hollies, the Doors, the Strokes and Kings of Leon.

Retro Rhythm Review

The Retro Rhythm Review is exactly that, a ten member intensive examination and energetic reinterpretation of the best dance music of decades gone by. The group is fast becoming renown for its dynamic and show stopping performances. With repertoire extending from Stevie Wonder to the Temptations, The Supremes to Sly and the Family Stone, this group breathes new life into old classics. The funky bass grooves of Jonny Moonbeam accompanied by explosive drumming and soulful organ playing back up the tightest horn section this side of the Tower of Power. With the sweet soul sister singing of the Satellites, the Retro Rhythm Review promises a musical experience like no other.

Radio Electric

Winnipeg rockers, Radio Electric, are on an adrenaline and beer fueled mission to give their fans all the pounding drums, thumping bass and searing guitars they can handle. Down-home, proudly Canadian, and vintage-inspired rock has found a vessel in Konnor (vocals, guitars), Chris (bass) and Jason (drums) who draw inspiration from acts like the Tragically Hip, Big Sugar/Grady, Airborne, Jet, and Kiss. You can find them on iTunes, or do one better, and catch them around town, truckin' good old fashion, high powered tube amps around, putting out the kind of rock and roll that anyone can drink a beer or six to.
