Survival Guide

Super-Spike is legendary for all kinds of reasons. From the volleyball shenanigans to the beer gardens and the all-out rock and roll – this event is a serious undertaking for those who make it all the way though.

This little list will help you to plan your MTS Super-Spike TEN experience and make sure you’re prepared for the summer’s biggest party!

The TEN Commandments of MTS Super-Spike TEN

  1. Thou shalt not park your car on site or drink and drive!

We are blowing past record numbers this year and we have limited parking capacity at the venue. We don’t want people drinking and driving, so please plan ahead, car pool, get dropped off, or take a cab!!

  2. Thou shalt bring your ID

Whether you look 16 or 56, everyone on site needs to have their ID with them. MLCC is not giving us a choice, and if you plan on drinking, you NEED to prove to us you are over 18 with valid photo ID. Please don’t forget and make life easy on you and our venue staff!

  3. Thou shalt put together awesome team costumes

Super-Spike has a tradition of amazing team costumes. This being the TEN-year anniversary, we’re counting on you to take your team costumes WAY over the top! Body paint is encouraged 100%.

  4. Thou shalt wear sunscreen

In the ten years we’ve been at this, the sun has been out in full force every single year. You’ll need sunscreen. Lots of it. For you and your crew. Extra points for neon blue “zink” on your nose!

  5. Thou shalt drink lots of water

You’re in the sun. You’re playing hard. You’re gonna need to stay hydrated.

  6. Thou shalt bring warm clothes in case it gets chilly in the evening

When the sun goes down on Super-Spike, the real party begins! Remember that it can get a little chilly and unless you want those nips cutting glass we suggest you throw a hoodie in with your bag of tricks.

  7. Thou shalt recycle

Shinerama will be helping us to collect empty beer cans again this year to aid their support in research for the battle against cystic fibrosis. Watch for their big bins in the beer gardens and make sure you recycle.

  8. Thou shalt bring bug spray

The Maple Grove Rugby park is right next to the Red River and that means: MOSQUITOES! We suggest you douse yourself in that luscious liquid, somewhere out of sight to avoid being mobbed.

  9. Thou shalt remember to eat

There are all kinds of great food options from our vendors on site. We recommend soaking up some of that delicious Bud Light with a hot dog, samosa throughout the day. It’s a marathon, not a sprint people!

  10. Thou shalt have the time of your life

For a decade now, Super-Spike has been one of Winnipeg’s hottest summer events, and to celebrate the TEN-year anniversary, we hope you find ways to make it one of the highlights of your summer! With over 10 bands including The TREWS headlining on Saturday night and Red Bull DJ’s keeping the party going into the wee hours, we hope Super-Spike will deliver memories that you’ll hang on to forever!
