New this year! You already knew that Super-Spike was the ultimate summer party, now we're partnering with Manitoba Organization of Disc Sports (MODS) to bring you an Ultimate Tournament as part of our event! 

Choose from two division levels to suit your experience, and bring your Spirit of the Game.

Businesses can also enter Ultimate teams in our Corporate Challenge Division.  

Tournament Schedule

Teams can expect ultimate games to be scheduled on:

FRIDAY between 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. (Round Robin)

SATURDAY between 11:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Round Robin)

SATURDAY between 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (Playoffs)

No schedule requests can be accomodated.

Choose Your Division

All Ultimate games will be played on modified (shorter) grass Ultimate fields.

Expect fast games, lots of fun, and Spirit of the Game to always come first.

MODS Spirit (Recreational) Division

For teams that are here to enjoy the weather, the people, and the party!

You don't need much Ultimate experience to play in the MODS Spirit Division, but you must know how to have a good time!

In the Spirit Division, all games will be played with fun as the main goal!

MODS Competitive Division

For teams with experience, who are skillfully competing for the championship, but still out for a good time!

If you're in-it-to-win, the Competitive Division is for you.

All of the competitive games will be played with Spirit first, but we know that outscoring your rivals is a close second.

Captains

Every team must assign a Team Captain. Team Captains are responsible for registration, and ensuring team members show up for their games. In the event of a dispute or issue with the team, only the Team Captain may speak on behalf of the team. 

Registration

Team Captains are responsible for completing the online registration, and ensuring all team members are in our system. 

Register before June 1, 2018 at 11:59pm to receive our Early Bird rate of $49 per person.

After June 1, 2018 at 11:59pm, it will be $59 per person (Regular rate)

Final deadline to register: July 13, 2018 at 11:59pm.

All tournament participants receive free access for the concert series and festival.
Non-tournament participants can purchase a Weekend Pass to attend the event including the concert series and festival.

Ultimate Tournament Rules

All Divisions

  1. All participants must be 18 years or older.
  2. All participants must read, sign, and submit the online waiver form before playing or your team will be subject to default.
  3. Games are 24 minutes, timed matches, running score.
  4. Teams will switch sides after each point.
  5. 1 point is scored every time a pass is completed to a team member in their scoring end-zone.
  6. Teams must follow a 3:2 ratio on the field. This can be 3 men and 2 women or 3 women and 2 men.
  7. All basic Ultimate rules apply (no travelling, no contact, 10 second stall count etc).
  8. Pulls to start points happen from the end-zone line.
  9. Every team is guaranteed 3 games, but may play more.
  10. There is 1 disc for every field. Please do not remove it from the playing area.
  11. Team Captains are responsible for keeping score during the match.
  12. Following each match, the Team Captain of the winning team is responsible for reporting the score to the Results Area.
  13. All games are controlled via the Honor System. The event is about having fun. If you commit an infraction, make the call.
  14. Teams must be comprised of a minimum of 8, up to a maximum of 12 players. 5 players, including at least 2 females and 2 males must be on the field during the entire game (please see ratio rule above). Teams not meeting this requirement will be subject to a default. The opposing team may waive the minimum player requirement and have the match count as an official game. This must be determined prior to the start of the match.
  15. If the horn indicator goes off during a point, the point is immediately over unless the score is tied.
  16. There are no tie games. If the teams are tied at the end of the 24 minutes, that final point (already in play) will be finished to break the tie. Should there have been a completed score just before the horn and there is a tie, then a sudden-death point (pulled by the team that scored the previous point) determines the game winner.
  17. Teams that are late to the start of a game are penalized 1 point per minute.  Both teams need to agree on the penalty points and the games starting score before the game starts.  If a team fails to show for the full game the score will be recorded as 15-0.  Team captain of the team that was present is required to report that the other team did not show up.
  18. Any teams that do not report their scores by the end of the round robin will default to a 15 - 15 tie.

Spirit Division Rules

Rules above apply, plus the following:

  1. Everyone should use discretion on calling travels to keep pace of game moving.
  2. Every member on the field should avoid making contact on offense and defense at all times

Competitive Division Rules

Rules above apply, plus the following:

  1. All rules of Ultimate are enforced including travels, picks and fouls.
  2. The safety of every athlete on the field is important. Please be careful of contact and comments during the heat of play (some body contact will occur)!
